I grew some passiflora alata from seed and the leaves are huge and don't look like passiflora at all. Can anyone post a picture so I can see if I planted the wrong thing? Thanks Ibartoo
Hey!!! I started one from seed last yr.. The leaves are a little different they were single(not split) for the longest.. Now it is about 4' it has grape leaf looking leaves..How big is yours? You wouldn't happen to have family aroun Tx would you??
Alata usually has large, unlobed leaves and looks more like... well, maybe a magnolia leaf than a passiflora. The easiest way to ID alata is to look at the stem. Does it have "wings" running along the vine length? That's a species indicator.
Chena that doesn't look like an Alata to me. I have a pic of an alata in a recent post about poor color while blooming inside but I'm not sure if there's a good shot of the foliage. Karyn
WOW!! It started easy from seed.. Doesn't look like any of the others I have. I guess I will have to wait and see.. Gosh I wish I could remember who I got it from... Chena
Chena I bought what were supposed to be P. actinia seeds and they have grown beautifully. It's just too bad that they turned out to be P. edulis. lol Karyn
