Incarnata is most likely your best bet, since those can flower from seed in their first year. If you can get a plant with good root mass, it'll grow like crazy. Incense and caerulea are possible as well, but you'd have to start with a bigger plant since caerulea wouldn't flower in its first year from seed and Incense is a hybrid only available through cuttings.

I've seen caerulea survive snow. Seriously. Mom's got one growing by the well house that's survived several winters now with snow measured in feet. 'Course the top dies but it comes up from the roots every year.

I've got a volunteer in a potted laceleaf maple- WAY too big to bring inside so I figured if it lives then it lives... Well it has so far. Even bloomed this year.
My friend up in Portland tells me she's seen it growing on a fence near her house- Although I haven't seen it.

I've been trying to cross it & get some hardier varieties, but since I mostly grow decalobas now, (small house = small(er) plants) it's hard to find compatible species.
