Congratulations on that!!!! What a winter we have had!!!
WE have had colder temps and more snow that I can remember!!!

We are still having lows into the high 30's but hopefully nothing colder than that. I put my plumerias in my temp greenhouse to see if they like the warm temps...trying to give them a boost before they go outside on the deck.
Everything else is still inside...I'm waiting for a few more weeks before I put out agaves, Desert Roses etc.

Im also glad to hear it made it! They are very cold tolerant palms and one of my favorites (and that even includes the tropical ones too!).
Temps here are in the 40s at night and 50s in the day, but there are a few nights in the high 30s so most of my tropical plants are still indoors also.

I bet it sure feels great to see the pindo palm made it thru a nasty winter. I think keeping it dry and protecting it from winter winds adds a zone.

As a cold zone 7 I am glad at your results. Any pictures?

if you guys ever in the North Carolina peidmont theres a listing on craigs list in the city of charlotte section thats selling 15 gallon pindos for $40.Thats a great deal considering some websites selling thier 15 gallon pindos for $140.

Mine did the same in Richmond, looks great coming out of a rough winter. I popped a mini-plastic greenhouse enclosure over it.

My big worry with any winter protection schemes is always that the palm will eventually outgrow what I can put on it... and then what??

My guess is that even when large we can cover them with a pool cover in zone 7 with some Christmas lights for added measure if we like.

It must take the palm at least 15 or more years to get so large that its hard to tackle, and by then it may be cold hardier that just a pool cover for our zone may work. If you get 15-20 years from a palm in zone 7 lets just be glad and have another started, so if one is too large to cover the other can take it place.
