the houseplant forum???

how did you get it home from wherever you bought it.. was it intensely cold outdoors.. at the time??? .. last w/end was in most of the US ... and i think IL is still such ... lol ...

frankly ... most other problems.. would take weeks or months to 'show' ... this kind of damage .. IMHO .. doesnt magically appear in 7 days .... [heck it might take me a year to torture a houseplant like this.. lol] ..

there may be an underlying issue.. that was rather dormant.. and once the leaf was insulted.. it showed with vigor ...

it could also have been intense cold exposure when the seller got it off the truck ...

have you discussed such with the seller?? ... maybe they will fess up .. that all the stock did this??? .. i would try to return it .... presuming i have the receipt .... or throw it out.. if its not worth the gas cost to return it ... it is surely not exotic enough to spend too much money on 'saving it' ...... [i have never understand.. spending $20 .. saving a 10 dollar plant ... unfortunately ... i spent a lot of money on remedies.. before that wisdom kicked in .. lol]

ken

ps: i picture a bigboxstore semi ... stuck in a snow drift in nebraska for a few days [coming from some PNW grower] .. temps falling below zero in the truck.. . and this semi tropical plant.. having no sense of humor about it ....

Hi & welcome to GW! This does look like cold damage.

Thanks for the advice and insight. I'll keep giving it love until spring and see what happens.

That's all you can do, good luck! When this happened to mine (at around 40 degrees,) I had to take those leaves off, they continued to turn too brown to be of use to the plant, and ugly. It did grow plenty of new ones quickly when it went back outside for summer. In a few weeks, you should be able to know the extent of the damage more clearly. This kind of Drac is more sensitive to cold than most, and luckily, a little faster grower.
