Box elder bugs.

They're doing the same as those lady beetles -- hanging out for the winter.

Both are considered nuisances rather than damagers.

They hang out on the south and or west side of houses during the winter. When it's too cold, they move into the wall void. When it warms a bit, they move to the exterior again.

They don't feed during the winter. Even if they did, their food doesn't include kale/pansies/mustard.

Not Lightening bugs for sure, Box Elder bugs for sure. These wee buggers only eat the pollen from maple trees so while they are looking for shelter to spend the winter they will not do any harm and are simply a nuisance for you. Out where they really belong they are a food source for many of our feathered friends.
To keep these wee buggers, and the lady beetles, out of your house you need to find, and seal, any and all potential points of entry, a long and tedious task.
