Wow, even for Bell's two days is pretty impressive.

I gotta say, I've seen a few creative ideas for maintaining germination temperature over my years growing but you're the first person who has tried using an egg incubator. Most growers probably won't have an incubator laying around but it makes sense that it could be re-purposed for germinating seeds.

Yeah I haven't seen anyone else use incubators either. But I thought, why not try it? They are made to stay at a constant temp for long periods of time so I went for it. At first I wasnt sure if it would even stay at 80, because 80 is too low for hatching eggs, but I was super happy when it did. It's a large bator too, so If I wanted to I could even stick a tray with pellets and sprout that way aswell.
I will keep updating as more sprout here & on my youtube :)

Just an update, I have successfully germinated all of the varietys (I had over a dozen) except for one (I believe they were hybrid). Right now all of them have nice big roots and m ost have their leaves out (Still waiting on the chocolate ghost peppers to show some leaves though).

FRESH seeds will germinate in no time. The older, the longer. But, yes... I've noticed the lower the SHU, the quicker also. Check those Choc bhuts by opening the paper towel. Sometimes the taproot is so thin, you can't see by holding the baggy up to the light.

I have been using an incubator. I actually use it to start all but the cold hardy seeds. I have found that the roots are more easily damaged if using a coffee filter or paper towel. I now put the seeds in individual pots with sterile seed starting mix. My incubator does not have a light so as soon as they show they are sprouted they need to be put under lights.
