Hi Hunter, That beetle looks similar to the ones that destroy my snapdragons most years. Mine are about the size of ladybugs. If it is the same type, I hope someone has a solution - I love snaps!
Good luck,
posiepaula

It's not a beetle, but a 'true bug' of some kind. One of the stink bugs, but I don't know which kind. I believe that I have seen pictures of something similiar, but they can be so variable!

I'd leave it alone...there are so many beneficial predator stink bugs. Unless you find a zillion of them eating big chunks out of your plants.....

Looks like a stink bug. Don't know exactly which one. If crushed it has a disagreeable odor.

Most are plant feeders although some are predaceous. Plant feeders have sucking mouth parts. They can overwinter as adults. Suggest the same as rhizo 1. Just keep an eye out for more. See what they are doing.

Thanks, guys, I was kind of waiting to hear from you before I got rid of it. Glad I didn't. It's the only one I have seen, so I figure it may be a good guy. The pests always seem to arrive in great numbers, lol.
