Unfortunately, I dont think you can. Gardenweb gave in to advertisers a little less than a year ago. It sucks, but I have learned to deal with it since there is so much information on this site. I do believe that the advertising has made a lot of users leave the site. Hope you dont leave!

My DH just helped me out with this, although it's not a perfect fix. If you you have Firefox, there's an add on called Flashblock 1.5.5. You can download it from the Mozilla Firefox website. It will give you a button for your toolbar that makes the ad invisible, with an outline. The drawback is if you want to click on anything within this outline, it will activate the ad. But for right now, it is stopping the screen from jumping when the ad automatically collapses.

Opera browser blocks unwanted pop ups. I use it and I don't ever see any drop down ads on Garden Web.
