I have never tried this before, but it sounds very interesting. I may have to try it sometime.

Blends are mostly all I make.Especially with the Super Hots and hotter peppers.
Trinidad Perfume,Aji Dulce,Seasoning Peppers taste like habaneros but have no heat so they add more flavor to the chile powder without adding more heat.
I use Cascabel,Cal.,New Mex.,Chile Negro and other peppers to make my blends.

I dehydrate all my peppers after cutting in half. A mix gives a good bit of flavor I find. In some I leave the seeds, in some I remove the seeds. Kind of depends on who I am drying them for, whether their a wimp or not. You will get much more flavor, and substantially less heat without the seeds though. Mixes made last year included Red Savina, Scotch Bonnet, Jalapeno, Ancho, and a few others that I can't seem to remember without my morning caffeine.

I blend the peppers for a richer powder. Layering of flavors is where its at when it comes to cooking :)

I love powders, especially smoked.

I usually will stick with "single malt" type powders rather than blends but may try blending this year.

i tend to perfer pure pepper powder that way when i'm making something and i want a combo. I can put whichever powders i want in whatever i'm making. I could make chili powder but i don't because i prefer to put cumin/ancho/new mexican/hab/ect.... Just my preference :)

If I've got a lot of dried peppers I want to get rid of then I mix them. When I get too many canning jars full and they're taking up too much space. They always turn out good, no matter how you mix them.
