Hey Chad, Nice Pics! That Queen Palm is really big for just getting it in the mail. What company did you buy it from and how much was it? (If you don't mind me asking). I would like to order one too!

Also I was just wondering what the fungus looks like...I just received a bottle palm in the mail last week and it has some dark spots on the fronds. Not sure what it is...
Any ideas?

I got the queen palm from the seller cftnursery.

It was only ten dollars, but 25 if you count shipping.

As for the fungus, here is a pic of what mine looked like:

Is that what yours looks like? See how the tips of the frond is brown? That eventually spreads and covers the entire frond, and it dies. I cut off all the fronds that had a lot of it on them, and then treated it with fungicide. Its coming back really good!

I bought my bottle palm from cftnursery too. I won it on ebay. Its the first palm I've bought online and I was happy that it made it here alive. Took over a week to get here from Florida. The brown spots on it don't really look like your picture but maybe I will treat it with fungicide. I will try to post a picture later after I figure out how to do it.

Here is a step by step how-to:

1) Go to http://www.tinypic.com

2) Browse for your image and upload it

3) Copy the direct link url of the picture

4) Come back here, and type the following

img src=PASTE THE DIRECT LINK URL HERE

At the beginning of that there needs to be a (I couldnt have put them there otherwise it wouldn't have shown up since it would try to make an image show up from the url "PASTE THE DIRECT LINK URL HERE". Obviously thats not a real URL, so it wouldn't work.

5) Put the code where you want your image to appear.

Looks like your washingtonia's are in alot better shape than mine. All the leaves rotted and yellowed on mine, at the moment all that's left is the spear. Good luck with your palms

Make sure you don't have that fungus I showed a pic of. Both my washingtonias I got from cftnursery had it.

I regret giving away two six foot washingtonia robustas last year. They were volunteer seedlings (seeds dropped by birds) and were three years old (al least three years since i had noticed the seedlings in my yard). Now i have a couple of two year old seedlings and tons of new seedlings that just sprouted this year in different parts of the yard. I guess i'll just have to wait a couple of more years to have some the same size as the ones i gave away. Here are some other palms i am growing though:

Everything in my yard has been in the ground less than three years, some were just planted this year, like the Jubaea Chilensis.

I purchased (2) majestic palms they were labeled as assorted palms at Home Depot back in March. I picked them up for cheap and have been struggling to keep them alive, and that is strange for I have a green thumb. When I purchased them they had like 5 fronds on each plant. I have tried to do research and have spent hours on the computer looking up information on them. I know only have 1 frond on each of them doing fine and 2 frond that haven't opened up on each of them as well. How do I get the fronds to open up? I have them in my dinning room on the south side of our house next to our french doors. I played a tricky game trying to get on a schedule with watering and now have it down pat. I only water once a week. I do mist the plant. Can you offer me any advice. I would really like live plants than fake ones.
