Root pruning ealier this month

I thought I would share some pictures of root pruning and transplanting 2 plumeria from 03 March 2012. Plumeria Forum members Jandy and Hunnybunny (the three of us make the Austin/San Antonio "chapter") joined me as we talked shop and enjoyed the nice weather.

Root pruning a JL brand Candystripe I bought as a cutting in 2008. 2011 was not a good year for this plant it put out two inflos and I was having problems with leaf burn. So this year I hope the pruning helps rejuvinate it and I am going to put it a less sunny location.

Root pruning and transplanting a Rainbow. The piles of lava rock are used as top dressing on the containers. You can see salt deposits on the pile to the right. That pile is to be leached out. Disclaimer: my girls are great helpers but are well practiced in the art of photobombing pictures so I gave up on trying to take a picture without them. This rainbow has a tendancy to drop about half of its forming inflos so i am hoping by pruning some branches and a root pruning it will do better this year.
