Hot Hot Hot

I am looking for a super hot pepper to grow this year- I have a friend that claims he can eat ANY pepper and I would really like to prove him wrong!!! I grew habaneros and serranos last year and he did in fact eat them both. Please give me some ideas as well as where I could go to buy the seeds. THANKS!

Your Friend must be quite a hot head. I'm a lightweight myself, I just burned the *&%$ out of my tongue last night on some Iguana hot sauce, and the thought occurred to me that I'm pretty much dead when my peppers come in LOL...According to my brochure from Redwood City, Tepins are the hottest in the world; however, I will defer to the more experienced growers on here who may have different opinions.

Chocolate Habanero was the hottest in the 2001 test.

Field test, 10 of my friends who said the same thing, never want to see another choc Hab.

Byron...was the Chocolate the hottest by a wide margin? Before I started growing myself, I worked with a guy who made his own hot sauce with chocolates. It was pure evil "take the paint off your hood" stuff.

How about a top 5 list?

Hottest I have ever put into my mouth was a trinidad scorpion, which I am saving seed for to distribute later this season. I understand that the pepper called the 'trinidad 7-pod' also reputed to be one of the world's hottest. 2nd hottest pepper I ever tried was a chocolate scotch bonnet.

The hottest (according to Guinness) is the Red Savina habanero which beats out the chocolate hab. When you get way up there though, environmental factors can have a huge impact on heat, so various habaneros may taste hotter than a Red savina.

The hotest pepper I have ever eaten is a Devil's Tounge habanero. There is a guy in my area who makes hot sauce from just chocolates and I can take the stuff straight, so from my experience both Devil's Tongue and Red Savina are hotter.

A Tepin would pale in comparision, but they are still really really hot.

Comparing Tepins and Habs is like comparing apples and oranges. Both have a different hea to them. But of course the Hab strains ARE the hottest by far. I can take any strain of Hab and and grow it under the right conditions and blow anyones peppers out of the water. If i were you I'd give your friend something like a Savina (True) or a Chocolate thats been starving for water...
