Possible black tip?

This isn't my cutting, I am posting it on behalf of my sister. She received this cutting (VCR), which the tip looked like a chunk was taken out. She has had it for a week which she is currently trying to root and now it looks worst. I know VCR is prone to black tip so what do you guys think? Does black tip spread to other plumerias (she has more she is rooting)?

I had black tips before but they didn't look like that. Mine were literally black! This looks like something is chewing at it!

That doesn't look like black tip to me. I think something chewed at it like Lynn said or could be damage from shipping? Looks like it is dry and healing up fine. If it is soft I would cut it off.

What on earth could be munching on it? She is rooting it inside and she has no pets. Two other cuttings we received were damaged (broken branches) but nothing like this one.

Kim,
Tell her to check her drainage holes, sometimes slugs and little snails and insects live in there. Usually with slugs and snails u will see slim trails.
