From somewhere deep in the tropics...

That's been the origin of East Coast weather for several weeks now. There is a persistent plume of moisture from the Caribbean north to the Canadian Maritimes. (Even looks like the potential for tropical storm formation to the south of Cuba.) The duration of this deep tropical connection is just very unusual for so early in the season, the month of June has felt more like late August into September which is typically, torrentially wet and humid. The tropical plume is forecast to be pushed west, off the East coast as the Bermuda High expands. Major flooding will move into the Southeast, W.V., western Pa.. This is big time rain, heads up!
Will be interesting to see how this affects plant growth because while rainfall and humidity are through the roof, there was been limited sun. In years past, I always remember seeing the most growth in August. I just thought that it was because it took some time for our potted palms and other plants to kick into growth after a Winter spent indoors. Now, I am beginning to wonder. Palms seem to be pushing strong growth earlier!

Brutal out there today. Temperature and humidity very high. On a positive note, however, first day I've seen prolonged sunshine in about a week. It has been raining here for months...and I mean months. Took a chance with Impatiens this year despite a supposed fungal disease that cannot be eradicated. Well...they are massive, having grown and spread in all the rain. Tropicals and palms loving it as well. And my tomatoes...over 4 ft. tall already and loaded with fruit and flowers. Still...we could use at least two solid weeks without a cloud in the sky. Hopefully, the only booming sounds tonight will come from the fireworks over the beach...which are mobbed on this 4th of July...

One of the few summers in recent years we have seen a Bermuda High
pressure system of any strength....unless I miss my guess your pattern
will change as the Bermuda High expands WESTWARD and engulfs
the mid-section of the country as well.

Yes, expected to expand west...but oh, so slowly. Still, a lot of clouds lingering at the coast, but we are expected to be in a heat wave soon, with something called 'the sun'. This heat wave exanding from East to West--go figure! Warm, but so far it's the super high humidity that is the main issue. You are more than welcome to share in the deluge of precip that we have been 'enjoying' for WEEKS now! Sharing is caring. :)

We have had it!! I am a rain lover but enough is enough already!

Just hope too much damage is not done to wherever this 'pineapple express' sets up shop next!

Here we're a bit the opposite, "From somewhere deep in Antarctica" dry air mass is coming up which, although warming fast during the day, because of low humidity won't hold the heat at night. And rain is far far away.
