Maybe like what I have flea beetles, they jump when you get near them.

Are you sure that they aren't winged aphids? Aphids will bear winged aphids when conditions get too crowded on their original host plant.

Or they could be beneficial wasps looking for aphid victims.

Oh crud! You know what? I think maybe they were beneficial wasps! I didn't know what they looked like (this is only my second year gardening) I thought maybe they were another aphid-like monster going after my plants. Next time I see one I will look super close,(if i haven't wiped them out), but the picture I looked up does resemble them for sure.

Gran5 are the flea beetles you have usually in the soil? That sounds like something else I have had. We had a major issue with teeny bugs in the soil that jumped like crazy last year. You hey were everywhere and even got in the house and I couldn't figure out what they were.

The jumping things are springtails. As for the other insect with wings, I thought of parasitic wasps, too,, but don't think of them as swarming a plant. You might consider that you have both.

Would the wasps swarm a plant if the aphids were abundant enough? Or like you said could be both. I will look very close next time I see them. I didn't realize parasitic wasps were so small.
