Some things you should know about coir:

Most professional growers limit its use in media to less than 10%.

It has roughly the same amount of water retention as peat.

As you noted, it can be high in salinity (toxic levels of Na and Cl).

If used as a significant fraction of the medium, it's high pH precludes the use of dolomite as a liming agent (Ca/Mg source), so you'll need to be sure your plants get the Ca/Mg they need from an alternate source.

It has a VERY high K content, so that should be taken into account in establishing your nutritional supplementation program.

It loses loft very easily (compacts), which is why most commercial ops that use it in getting starts ready for market will use some form of bottom watering.
