2010 List

First off, I want to thank rdback for his seed offer. The seeds are great, more than half already germinating in 6 days with nonstop bottom heat.

Question about the bottom heat, first. Now that most of the seeds have sprouted, should I (a) leave the heat until I pot up the seedlings, (b) leave bottom heat only until all seeds have sprouted, or (c) remove bottom heat immediately?

Thanks in advance for any advice. The list is as follows, first group is about 50 days old and already hardened off outside, second group have just sprouted last night, third group are about to pop up as I can see distinct mounding in all the cells:

Long Thin Cayenne

Red Marconi

Quadrato Di'Asti Gaillo

Sweet Yellow Stuffing

Lemon Yellow Habanero

TAM Jalapeno

Anaheim

Cili Gorong

Fatalli

Red Habanero

Orange Habanero

Naga Jolokia

Jamaican Hot Yellow

Fish Pepper

Purple Marconi

Jimmy Nardello

Purple Jalapeno

7 Pod

Padrone

Beaver Dam

Bhut Jolokia

Quadrato Di'Asti Rosso

Goldon Cayenne

I'm looking forward to making some salsa, hot sauce, and spicey jellies this year, and crossing my fingers that all goes as planned.

Thanks again Rick for the great seeds!

    RE: spice8

Rick's seeds are great. I'd jump out on a limb to say they are germinating at a higher rate that the seeds I bought from a well-known vendor!

    RE: Kevin

That's quite a list, and I thought I was going to struggle to find room for all of mine, haha! I'm interested in the wilds. Have you grown them before?

P.S. -- Any advice on the heat mat question from my original post?

    Omw,
I've grown wilds before but never this many at once,Luckily I have a big yard,so I extended my garden this year,I should have no problem with room.
I have heard lots of people swear by heating mats, but I personally dont use it .If I did I would remove the heat once they sprout.
I want to thank Rick again also!

So, as of today (11 days after sowing) 40/42 of the new seeds have sprouted, which gives me a 95% germination rate. On top of that, at least one of all 17 varieties have sprouted, including the Bhuts, which were the last ones up. I sowed two of each variety for redundancy. The only two seeds not to sprout were one 7 Pod and one Beaver Dam. Overall, I am very happy with the results. Now, its just a waiting game til pot-up time. Will try to get a picture up soon. The Purple Jalapenos are so cool looking!

This is my first year with peppers. So far i got Cayenne, jalapeno, serrano, white habanero, bhuts, and of course bell peppers. Money is tight this year so i had no choice but to start off small. I have alot of other vegi's going in the garden as well because of the wife and kids. If it were to me i would have peppers and tomatos only :).

    Approx 1 month old:

L to R, top to bottom:

7 Pod Jonah, Beaver Dam, Red Hab, Orange Hab, Quad Rosso, Bhut Jolokia (2), Jam Hot Yellow, Fatalii, Cili Goronong, Padron, Fish, Naga Jolokia (2), Jam Hot Yell, Fatalii, Cili Gornong, Padron, Fish, Purple Jalapeno

Overall, growth is going well. Lights on 24/7 right now. Working on hardening off ASAP. Only problems seem to be edema on a few plants. Possible causes are over watering and/or poor air circulation inside + less than ideal humidity inside. All the affected plants should perk up once they are stabalized to conditions outside.
