A collection is reborn

A few weeks ago I revealed the extensive loss of my little collection as a result of Hurricane Sandy last November. I have added lots of new plants and cuttings. It will take a few seasons to get my plants to a bigger size, but that's OK with me.

Here's a Kauka Wilder plant with a big inflo blooming in my garage under a 1500W MH lamp. I would have brought established plants outside by now, but since I have all new cuttings and some rooted cuttings, I am keeping them in my garage for now where it is nice and toasty.

Side view of Kauka Wilder flowers. The fragrance is sweet and pleasant, with a buttery hint. Scent and coloration are likely less intense than if this plant were outdoors.

A couple plants with inflos starting to form:

Here's a view of the entire collection in my garage. In there you will also find some Adeniums, Pachypodiums, Hibiscus, baby Ensete and Colocasia, and a small Brugmansia.

Plumeria varieties:
Celadine
JL Bleeding Heart
JL Haleakala
Kaneohe Sunrise
Kauka Wilder
Lani
Mardi Gras
Waimea
Yellow Jack

Compact varieties
California Sunset
Divine
JackâÂÂs Yellow Compact
Mary Moragne
Musk Rainbow
Rhonda

Some will go into patio pots, most will be submerged in the ground. It will take a few seasons to sort out which varieties do well for me.

That's a collection that would please most any plumeria addict. Great choices!

Is Cal. Sunset a more compact variety?

Dave, Cal Sunset I believe is a seedling of Penang Peach, so it is very similar to it in flower quality and growth habit. It's no dwarf that's for sure. Semi-compact, subcompact, regular compact... is there a good definition out there, LOL!
