Someone else can talk about the blueberries. Although to start, they look short of fertilizer.

But the gladiolus have thrips, a tiny insect that damages the buds before they even open. Not a good thing, because part of the life cycle is in the ground.

So if you want to have glads next year, you'll have to start with new bulbs -- more correctly, corms -- in a new site.

Thank you jean001. I thought that might be the problem. I have glads in two completely separate areas, probably 35 feet apart, and both are affected. Now I wonder...are the corms also affected and should I just discard them? Also, any way to get rid of the thrips?

The trips spend part of their life in the soil. So yes, they will be on the corms when either left in the ground or lifted and stored elsewhere.

That's why I suggested you start over with new corms in a new site.

Again, thank you for responding to my cry for help! I went out and bought 80 new corms for next year. I did some research on thrips, and they are certainly a nasty little bug. Nothing I read said anything about them killing a whole plant - even before it has any flowers. Many of my glads died with just foliage at about 8 - 10 inches tall. Still thrips?

Hmmm. Haven't heard about that. But thata doesn't say it's impossible.

Did you perhaps dig them up to see what condition the corm was in? If so, was it soft or damaged? If so, perhaps fusarium rot, a common soil-borne disease of glads.
