cut most of what off... pruned branches.. or mildewed leaves???

removing mildewed leaves was way over the top...

there are a multitude of remedies for such.. from organic.. such as baking soda mixed with water... thru chemical ...

but if you cut the all off.. whats left to do???

Do you know what kind of Crape it is? Some cultivars are very susceptible while others are very resistant to PM.

I am also curious about the type of pruning that was done. If the tree was topped, a big flush of succulent growth probably occured all at once....a perfect set-up for PM disease. Even a very resistant hybrid can be made to be a PM magnet by that kind of pruning.

Crape myrtles should only be pruned to thin them out....open up the canopy in order to allow for better sunlight penetration and air circulation, both of which will improve a plant 's odds against PM. That type of pruning requires some training and knowledge.

I have had great luck using neem oil applications on crape myrtles, both as a protectant and a curative for light infections.

Can you tell me about the pruning and the variety?
