Chandra, Your garden looks Super Fantastic as always.

I left some tomato plants for fall just like you did, but because I grow so many, I pulled out about 90% of the plants and only left a few. Like yours, they have greened up, put out new growth, etc. and are looking good and setting fruit. They already had begun to green up and look better and then we got that 3" of rain and now they really look much better, although this week's heat isn't helping them.

I've also got a handful of tomato plants and pepper plants in containers that I intend to move into the greenhouse as the weather cools. I'll see how long I can keep them going in there.

Tomato plants are perennial in climates where it doesn't freeze, so often when they look dead in summer, they aren't really dead but rather more or less dormant due to the heat and low moisture.

I also have volunteer plants sprouting here and there under the cherry tomato plants.

Chandra, I swear you must garden 24/7! It seems you work tirelessly creating a bountiful, beautiful haven for your veggies, herbs, and flowers. You should be proud of what you've done to provide good food for you ad your family.

Wow! Chandra I had never seen pictures of your garden before, it is so lush and beautiful! I cannot believe you live only one mile from where I live and it looks like you have created something so wonderful, even in this terrible heat/drought we have had this year. Amazing!

My tomato plants have just started putting out lots of new growth too, hopefully we can get some tomatoes by the frost. My tomatillos are doing pretty good too, they keep flowering but we have not had any setting fruit yet. Trying to be patient and wait!

Thank you. Garden might look like I am working hard. But in reality I hardly work once major planting is done in early spring. I may spend few hours in the weekend to tend the garden, lawn moving etc. Rest is like just watch them growing and keep harvesting. Major time goes is for harvesting, my family and friends will take care of that part. Major time savers this year is irrigation system.

After looking at the soil, I have decided go with non-till garden next year, secondly I am kind of shortlisted an downtown the varieties/types based on the performance and liking. It it will be even easier! -Chandra
