Question about pruning.

I recently transplanted a Moruga Scorpion that I grew from seed in my garden. It is kind of a leggy plant but is now growing additional leaves and branches on it's stem and a nice dark green growth on top. I noticed 4 buds forming so I went ahead and snipped them off to encourage growth.
I've heard of some folks cutting the plant down to help with strength. I also planted it a few feet away from my Serrano up against my backyard fence and the serrano is exploding with peppers and flowers. I personally think they like the fence that captures heat during the day (my personal theory).

As far as the Scorpion, I say leave it and see what happens. What do you think?
Thanks!

Dave

I agree Dave. A picture would help but I think cutting it back will slow its growth which sounds like just got into full swing now. It would probably force it to get bushier but I think that will come as it continues to put on mass. If it seems to leggy and you are worried about it getting knocked over by wind, you could stake it for a while. I find that the super hots typically wind up growing as wide as they are tall by the time they get mature.

Ok Bruce, thanks! I'll leave it and see what happens. I'll keep you posted :-)

I think, You prune in a fast growing stage. Also, you do it if you have a relatively warm and long growing season. In zone 9b, yeah sure . Pruning results in a set back, Me thinks.
So, with my not so warm/hot and long season, I will take another route, PLANT IN SMALLER POTS. Believe t or not, my Hungarian HW has 3 fruits (~ 1 1/2") while still in a 4" pot.
