Hi Tree - I can answer exactly one of these questions so will start there and wait for other knowledgeable folks to chime in.

I see that there are a lot of different types of plants that are called asparagus fern, so to be specific, I have an asparagus fern that looks like this one: http://www.pernellgerver.com/asparagusfern.htm

I have had it since about 1999. It hasn't ever done well for me as a houseplant, but I love it outside. I put it in the garage before the first freeze, and water it a little maybe three or four times all winter long ... I don't really pay any attention to it and only water if I remember ... am sure I've gone a whole winter watering it only once or twice before. Our garage does have a window, so it isn't in pitch black dark in there, but it's not sunny. It goes pretty much dormant, with tons of needles falling off and making a mess and some parts staying green all winter. In the spring, I drag it back outside, trim off all the dead stuff, water it, and it fills out full and beautiful again pretty quickly. I just water it with all my other potted plants all summer long.

When I lived in an apartment, I would bring it in the house over winter, but it dropped so many needles and the cats would eat on it then throw up so when I moved to a house I started putting in in the garage. Googling it just now it seems to be mildly toxic to cats, that's probably why they throw up - but they loved to eat it anyway.

Tree, I have successfully transplanted baby swiss chard plants, so that should not be a problem. They quit growing for a while but came back on strong in the spring (I moved them in late fall, maybe November).

Arugula was my first successful plant. I didn't like the peppery taste but loved the foliage. I actually moved some of it into a pot indoors where it survived well without much light for a while.

My fern is the common one(can't find a foxtail anywhere).
I tried moving it and the pot cracked in half. Do I need to cut in half and repot it's been in the same pot 8 years.
Should I cut it back?
The Arugula is self seeding and is 5 foot around, just wanted to know if I could freeze it.
