Search google for cucumber beetle. Is that it?

Depeche.....it's clearly not a cucumber beetle! (Persimmons needs to google, lol.) I haven't responded because I have no idea what they are, but I have been doing some looking.

Are those clear wings folded over their bodies? What are they so interested in? Did you observe them flying?

I'm thinking that they might be a mimic of some kind.

We believe we have narrowed them down to some type of leaf-cutter bee. They are good pollinators, apparently well outperforming honey bees. They also appear to be pretty harmless, normally biting instead of stinging and only when handled. I attacked them with a hose when I was out squash bug collecting and they just flew off, didnt attack.
