My new kitchen :)

After adding an extension with a new lounge / dining, we turned the old sunken lounge room into my dream kitchen.

Wow!! Love your reno!! Love the splashback to add contrast and really love the colour choice! Great job! I love blues although it possibly could have green tones!! Can't tell the exact colour!!! Thumbs up anyway!!

Thank you ! Yes, it definitely has green tones......even grey to match the speckles in the bench tops. The view from the window looks over the sea, so we wanted a "beachy" look. When the light is right, the ocean is almost the same colour :)

    Fantastic!

Gorgeous! What did you use for the backsplash?
Thanks :) ha ha! funny how we call it a Splashback in Oz :) It is toughened glass.....it can be (spray) painted any colour you choose - so we bought sample pots of several Dulux colours and painted on the back of glass from old picture frames to get an impression of how it would look. We decided on Dulux "Zenith Heights" 1/4 strength...it has a little more green in it. Otherwise, Dulux "Sea foam" 1/4 strength was very close but more blue :)

Yes, the backsplash is very eye catching in this cheerful and open kitchen.

What an impressive transformation! Your kitchen certainly has a slight "beachy" vibe--very nice! Love it.

    Beautiful! So open!
I love the backsplash. I am up to that point in my kitchen and have been thinking about painted backsplash. I love the clean open look as opposed to the grout. My concerns, without doing much research yet, is how do you get the look without seams? Also, much as I love your color, I would like something in the goldish family and it seems that any painted glass that I have seen has a greenish/blueish tone to it. Do you know if I can achieve another color family? Who do I seek out to do this, that is knowledgeable, and also - is installation tricky?

we have tried a few times to convince clients to eliminate upper cabs, never seems to work. :o)

Like what you did with the kitchen...what brand of range is that?
I love what you have done

Studio S...... I'm 5ft 1 tall ;) so wouldn't have bothered with overheads, even if there was the wall space. The rangehood? It's a Robinhood.......just a basic one, but looks ok :)

    The other wall :)

That is a really nice kitchen and remarkably similar to the plan we are currently considering (but without the view). Do you mind my asking the dimensions of your island and lengths of bench tops? Thanks in advance.
Hi Leesa! The island is 225cm long and the benchtop with the fruit bowl on it is 290cm long. The wall behind the sink is 600cm long.......we had to work with the dimensions of what used to be the lounge room, so ended up with a fairly large kitchen...I have yet to fill the cupboards and going from the amount of bench space I had in the old kitchen.....this is a dream :) Happy planning :)

Hi Oceangurl Thanks for that. Looks like ours will be a touch smaller. Enjoy your new kitchen and the jealousy from everyone who sees it. :)

Your kitchen is looking great - well done. You're very lucky to have enough space to avoid using overhead cabinets. I am even shorter than you and use a step ladder to get into mine!

Amazing! It looks so much much larger too :)
