Pygmy Palm Trim

I have a pygmy palm that was planted by the previous owner in not the best spot. It probably looked great when smaller but it seems to have grown a bit out of control and one of the arms (there are three) is growing out over the walkway. Can I cut off this one off at the base and leave the other two? Or will this kill it? I hate doing this but it cuts off the walkway and hides the front door.

Cutting off that part will not kill the entire palm since the palms are not 1 plant, they are 3 plants grown very close to each other. Once you cut it, it will not grow back though so make sure that you get a really good idea of how it will look without that trunk before you cut away.

Alex - thanks! To be honest, I am surprised it has not fallen over as it was planted underneath a covered area and this arm is all bent over as it is growing out towards the light. I actually love pygmy palms in the landscape and I feel bad about cutting it back but when guests have to walk around it to enter the house - it is time to go!
