I have a houseguest that won't leave

and her name is Tropical Storm Debby.

It looks like we have several more days, if not a week ore more of this since the storm is stationary.

I cannot complain, we are high and dry at our location. However there is plenty of flooding to go around in certain areas. The wind has tired everything out- all the leaves on my plumeria and other plants are hanging limp, as if to say "we've had enough." Surprising, no limbs have broken (yet), even with a couple pots that got blown over.

I left tampa saturday just ahead of the storm. Sorry to hear its not moving away quickly. Im glad it hasnt done to much destruction. I do have to say that given the chance I would love to move to your neck of the woods. We had a great time there and will surely come back. Send some of that rain this way. Our highs for the next week are pushing 105+. My thermometer in my truck said 109 at lunch.

irun - are you unable to move your plumies or are some in the ground?

Mike - I'm so glad you all got home safe and sound and didn't have to travel in that mess!

Yes- great timing Mike- glad you got out before things got nasty, and that it didn't mess up your trip!

I've moved the plants that are mobile to more protected areas. My in ground mango tree and plumeria are taking the worst of it- it is pretty horrific to see them bending sideways. I feel sorry for anything recently planted, where the root system hasn't yet integrated with the surrounding soil.

But I will take that over power loss or worse, flooding. When you see the people with "no wake" signs posted in what used to be their front lawn, it puts it in perspective real fast!

I am supposed to depart for Tampa Friday! I hope this hurricane/tropical stornm dissapates by then!

Hi Brian,

I was just watching the weather channel and thinking of you all in FLA.. "Debby" seems to have stalled between to different systems...

Im glad you could move some of the other trees... It sure does stress the trees with all of that wind and rain. Could you just try and take some Twine and pull the limbs
together or even take some rebar and tie them up just as a temp solution? Just to take the stress off so they will not break...

Hope u and Greg and all of the other Floridians are all alright..
