dumb cane disease

I have had my plant for over 35 year and it has developed some unusual growths. Ralph ( as I call him) has been my companion for a long time and I have cut him down an replanted him over 50 times. But I am afraid that he may have some fatal disease. Take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think

is the brown a reflection.. ?? ... sunburn???

it looks like an advantageous root is popping out at a leaf base ...

is that what you are asking about ... its sure is some healthy looking growth.. for you to jump to disease???

there is a very active houseplant forum ... i am sure you will get the correct answer there.. in case i am off base ...

Umm, the term is *adventitious* root. A root growing from an unusual place.
