Wrap it in Christmas mini lights instead of using a heat lamp. Make sure they're not the LED's, because LED doesn't let off heat. You could either be cooking it to death with the heat lamp, or it may not be letting off enough heat. It's also a good idea to hook the lights up to a thermo-cube(check Ebay) to regulate temps between 35 and 45.

I live In longisland ny. I myself have 7 windmill palms that range from 15 feet to 8 feet. I have been growing palms for 5 years. I wrap them with burlap from top to bottom, then I duct tape a 2x4 gouing to the top of the Fonds then cover with a garbage pail. You have to tie the Fonds up like a pencil. That protects the heart from the cold. Then mulch the base. I will send you pics if you want. Come late march you will open it up and have about 5 brown Fonds with brite green Fonds pushing up. Your tree will look buitiful by july 4th. You are probably over douing it

Do you know why you are losing leaves?

Are they against the cover or are they drying out?

The ones against the cover seem to dry out each year.
