My experience has shown that you probably won't see much growth due to transplant shock. I have a Washy that I repot every 3-4 years and during the first year in its new pot it will only push 1-2 spears out. However, I have 5-6 Trachys planted in the yard and after that first year they really took off. I would caution you to not overwater yours. They're pretty tolerant of dryness but very susceptible to overwatering.

I have some palms that are going through a bit of transplant shock and literally have not even grown at all⦠the leaf that was coming out is still in the same position as it was 20 months ago)⦠This is not unusual for some unhappy, shocked palms, and I have had some take almost 3 years to resume growth.

Thanks for the info. I thought the tree might be in shock but wasn't sure.

I also wanted to add that plants that have burlap around the rootball instead of in pots like you're describing are usually field grown, which means that they're growing in the ground and then dug up (usually cutting some of the roots) and then the rootball is wrapped in burlap. Most palms don't like having their roots cut, so this is another reason why it's probably in shock. It now has to grow new roots, which is priority over pushing out leaves.
