Root aphids - Orthene

I have a large potted indoor garden which i believe could be infected by root aphids. There are no signs of external pests but after a heavy watering i have found what appear to be dead or dying root aphids around the base of my pots. I am using the same soil (sunshine #4), nutes, temps, humidity ect. The plants have gone into flower and then stopped. The emerging flower buds just wont continue to develope. The only thing i can figure is that there are rood aphids sucking my plants of the nutrients. No wilting or other stress related symptoms. I have read that Orthene has been used as a soil drench to control root aphids and would like to try it myself. So far beneficial micros and Humtea have not helped much.

So #1 does this sound like a possible cause and #2 can you root drench w/ Orthene (acephate) to kill or control Root aphids. I found a University article that studied different applications of pesticides and Orthene worked at almost 100% success. Problem is i cant find a product listing it as a root drench.
