Eggs ID Very Strange

I'm from Northern California. I found this cluster of eggs on the soil in the grow - bag pot of a Black Hawthorne. The praying mantis egg cases usually look very different. What are they? Pests or beneficial? Frogs?
I'm very curious - this is a first. Also I found cause I'm moving plants around, is it okay still to move this plant?

Really? Aww, I think it's yucky to smash, will a spray of insecticide do the trick?

slugs and snails are NOT insects ... so insecticides usage would be pollution ....

scoop them out with a spoon ... and put them in the sink or the toilet ...

and then start hunting.. at light.. for momma.. who is also daddy... whats that all about ...

there is a FAQ in this forum.. as well as the hosta forum about such ... slugs anyway ...

Ryan....tsk tsk. You just don't grab a pesticide to spray because you're too squeamish to dispose of those few little eggs down the commode or in the trash.
