The first image shows the beginnings of a scale problem; while the second image shows another and more generic problem - probably linked to iron deficiency.

While I understand all plants will have leaves turn yellow and fall off, I wondered if this was related to an iron situation because just too many leaves are falling off for this to be just normal attrition .

Not an iron problem. Symptoms are wrong.

Biker, the mottled yellowing is due to what I explained in your other thread. As jean said, it has nothing to do with iron deficiency or any deficiency.

Your plant will regrow foliage as long as it remains healthy. Are you growing this outside in the ground in your location?

No, I'm in SE Michigan...a bit too cold for this plant. During the summer it will be outside. Thanks to all for your help and reassurance.
