Butterfly bush fungus?

I just noticed that there is some kind of fungus at the base of my butterfly bush. I tried to find it to see what it is but did not find anything like it. The leaves and bush itself looks healthy. Below are the pics of the fungus and the lower/old part of bush where the bark is peeling off. The whute fungus thing is kind of solid and a little spongy (I made a hole in it :) )

What is it and how do I treat it? I don't want it to die :(
