not sure where you live but you certainly do not want to expose the young seedlings to below freezing temps. Its safe to keep them in your kitchen in medium light until next spring. water them when the top 1-2" of soil dries out. They should be in a well drained soil that drains quickly. Water the young seedlings well, let the water drain out, and then dump the saucer after 1-2 minutes, you don't want the seedling sitting in water logged soil. it may take 2-4 months for the leaves to open up.

well i live outside the US but comparatively the area where i live is similar to zone 10b or zone 11. it's quite a warm climate, it never snows here and rainfall is low to average-low. the downfall is that it sometimes rains heavily all of a sudden with heavy drops doing some damage to plants.
The seeds i planted are in peat / compost with small rocks at the bottom of the container so the water drains away

With good tropical conditions your dates will probaly open
pretty quick
I would take them out and let them have some of the suns rays just make sure they do not stay too wet that's very important .

that's good to know i'm eager to see them open. will take them out then and let them catch some sun!!
