Problems paiting beams white

I am remodeling a house and trying to paint the beams white..they look similar tho the ones in the picture.
However, the beams become yellowish...as if the paint keeps being absorbed even after a couple of premier paints.
The contractor doesnt know what to do and i dont want to keep on painting.
can someone help me and tell me how should it be done properly please. THANKS!!

    Use better primer. Like bin

use an oil based primer first. That will seal the wood and then you can paint with latex over that.

You can first use shellac - it prevents tannins/ colors from old wood coming through :)
