Getting so antsy!

We've had such a dry, warm "winter" this year and the last week or 2 have been in the 60's!

I'm so ready to start planting stuff, but my last date of frost is about April 15th, and we are still getting some frosts in the morning.

We've been cleaning up the garden area, mulching, weeding etc and I do still have several things to pick and eat (the last of the broc, chard, lettuce, asparagus is starting(!!!!!!!!!!)brussel sprouts, beets, celery are in the works.

I think with our 4 day weekend, I'll have the DH make me a cold frame so I can get the seeds going!

The other bummer is that I have an impinged shoulder (basically tendonitis) that I keep re-injuring by gardening!

I try to be careful, but once it seems to be feeling better, I do something stupid, like using it, and I'm back to square one! Today I mowed the field and messed it up! Who'd a thunk!

I'm thinking, a starter frame will keep me happy and not injure the shoulder! Maybe! LOL Nancy

"antsy" works for me - worked all day in the potager - warm weather for the season - all bones and muscles now ache - but a good ache - beginning plans for an english border garden

I'm just excited it thawed out enough to move one of the arches, in the kitchen garden. I got it part way in the ground (big accomplishment for this time of year) and then it snowed again, last night. Actual gardening is still two months away...but yes, I'm getting very 'antsy' :)

Nancyjane, are you doing any physical therapy? I've had bouts of tendonitis and PT helped along with home exercises. Those stretch bands are great for that.

We've had so much rain this month. The ground squishes everywhere you walk. I'm hoping/praying for a dry week, so maybe I can finish moving a few things in the flower beds.

Still too early to turn beds in the kitchen garden. Have lettuce growing in the two tomato beds. Just potted up my tomatoes and peppers today. I start my seeds in the house, but move them to the cold frame as soon as they germinate. Did you get your hubby to build you one?

Natal, yes on the PT, I have my little rubberband thingies I use EVERY day! Then I feel better and do something stupid! Back to square one!I'm really re-thinking getting a cortizone shot!
Today I planted sugar snap peas, some more lettuce and some dill in the herb garden.
My chiropractor thinks I'm very funny cause I show him all of the "adaptations" I have made to keep gardening! I told him I can make him a catalog for people who hurt, yet still garden! Nancy

I am getting antsy too. Tomorrow we may reach 48 and so I am hoping the wind is calm and the ground is dry enough to work. Last week we had 2 snow storms that kept me inside but I have stuff that needs to get done before official planting season (May 15th), which admittedly seems a long ways away.

Having a hard time waiting it out here in MA too. We had unseasonably warm weather this weekend, went out and raked, now we are back to cold.
At least I have a plan done on paper! Some expansion and rotation of crops, to keep things interesting.
NancyJane, I got a cortisone shot a year ago in one knee for pain that was excruciating; within a week the pain was gone. I just got another one (it lasted a year).
Good luck with your tendonitis.

Macgregor, that's what everyone tells me "Just get the shot!"
My doc is more of a fix it by PT and stuff, but did say that if the PT doesn't work, the next visit will be the shot. I'm not much of a complainer, so she knows this has really been bothering me!
Luckily, I really mulched everything well and don't have a lot of prep to do this year. Mostly just planting. (The neighbor IS cleaning out the goat barn, though!) LOL Nancy

We got antsy in PA too! DH built the cold frame 2 weeks ago & according to the seed packet there will be radishes on March 11th
