This is my second year attempting to grow Poblano, so I don't know how much help I can be...
last year, my only plant was repeatedly eaten down to the stem. In November, it had unopened buds.
That little plant never exceeded ten inches or so.

This year, I used the extra seed from last year - no soaking, no special treatment -
and the Poblanos germinated quickly and grew into stout healthy seedlings. In fact, this year
the Poblano is the tallest pepper in the plot. But, as you mention, it's dropped most of its
flower-stems.

Can you post a picture of your plants?

Go to ask the experts at top home home page and type in key word pictures. They explain how to do it.

Flower drop probable causes:

1. Day temp too high >95F
2. Night temp too low 3. Too much nitrogen fertilizer
4. Too much water
5. Low light levels (reduces fertility).
6. Very low humidity (reduces fertility)
7. Poor air circulation (air circulation contributes to pollination).
8. Lack of pollinating insects.
9. Size of pot

10. Too much mineral in feedwater.
11. Too much grower attention.

Too much grower attention. Now I love that one Willie! Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I need to be patient on this and give the Ca-Libur 20 some more time. Since I posted this just a few days ago I think I am seeing a slight difference in the poblano plants.

We have had a poblano pepper plant the past couple of years that bears peppers but they reach only the size of a large marble at maturity. Can you provide any insight as to why and also if there is anything we can do to generate larger peppers? All of our other peppers (not poblano) in the same garden area produce normal size peppers.

I am no expert. But my poblanos are doing great. Only thing I'm doing is misting them every week or so with a weak solution of epsom salt and miracle grow tomato formula. I use 2 teaspoons of epsom salt with two teaspoons of miracle grow to 32 OZ. of water and mist all my peppers to the point of runoff. I've also sprinkled 2 tablespoons of epsom salt around the plants at flower set.
Also, arn't peppers self-pollinating?

Fruit is setting everywhere. We've had high temps and humidity also so that may be a factor. The "big" one measures 3' high and 2' wide at this point. Try the epsom salt, I think its made a huge difference in my plants. Just don't over do it.
