Troubles with Deer and Other Critters

Argh! Last night I noticed that something ate the pumpkins and butternuts done to nubs in my new melon patch. (Probably, the groundhog whose has taken up residence by my compost pile.) So, I quickly shored up the gate with some extra netting.

Then, today, I checked on the nicely leafed out fruit trees. Well, they're back to looking like the dormant sticks I planted in early April. Plus, the pink coneflowers that were about to burst into bloom are now sad little leafless clumps. Somehow deer managed to get inside our pool fence and had a delicious snack.

Hopefully, the poor things will make a come back. I'm off to walk around the back fence to see where the deer made their break in.
