I don't know of any orchid companies here. There are however botanical gardens which have orchid houses. Check out these places:

These are a few popular botanical gardens in the USA. Almost every state has a botanical garden of its own. You could also search the state of florida's botanical gardens, they would probably have a lot a the more tropical plants.

In the Chicago area - there is a large orchid company - Hausermann's. They are located in the suburb of Addison, Illinois.

Not too expensive to live right around this area - lots of reasonably cheap apartments but you may need a car or need to line a place near a bus line.
