I wish I knew. I found a tiny piece on the floor at Lowe's, brought it home, placed it in moist sand and covered it with a cup. It lived, rooted and grew fine UNTIL I took the cover off for a couple of days - it died shortly thereafter.

If I figure it out, I'll send you a "bigger than tiny" piece. My friend's plant is huge and healthy. Once I can tell you what the trick is, I'll send you some if you want.

Shear, I asked the plant manager if I could have it. She's a personal friend and said 'of course'. Like I said in response to your KT post - I'm about 80% honest - I'm not perfect and no one else is, either. As I said, it depends on the circumstances.

Kay, I wasn't saying that about YOU. I was laughing about ME. Please don't take that any other way. It just made me chuckle because I said I'm a plant pincher from the way-back machine. And at 80%, you're more honest than I am! ;)
I've had managers from garden center areas hand me plants and say, "Do you want this fill-in-the-blank? It broke off, so you can have it." And I always say 'Yes' because I know I can look it up here and find it a home.

In this case though, the Dischidia really was rooted and given to me by a friend/client and I really can't keep it alive. She's coming back in two weeks and I'm trying to make this plant look less pathetic.
