Installing a patio near trees.

What is the best type of material to use for a patio (pavers, stamped concrete, concrete with bluestone on top) and which type of trees would you recommend to plant nearby the patio so there is not heaving of the pavers, (if pavers are used)? Would it be fine to plant a tree in the middle of the patio for shade or would there be a problem with heaving of the bricks?

Material choice is entirely up to the client there is no "Best" Tree choice should be for its purpose in the landscape (shade, form, flowers or...). Tree in middle of patio well what is the purpose of the area & will a tree dissrupt the use of the area. Have you considered a wood deck then will not have problem of heaving pavers & you will be able to insure adaquate watering. Also a bench could be constructed around the trunk of a shade tree.
