'Bleeding Heart' is the common name for a number of plants. Is it woody or herbaceous?
If herbaceous then cut all but about five leaves off. Cat all flowers off and any flower buds that appear until the plant recovers, possibly even until next season.

Bleeding hearts will shock back when transplanted this time of year. I agree. Chop it back to first 5 leaves and cut your losses for this year. It will take and then grow very nicely next year.

OK, I've done that, I'm concerned about cutting it back so far because the stems are hollow, but I figure you guys know best, and I figure it would have possibly died if I had not cut it back, the leaves were already starting to curl.
