Help! Ice Plant Propagation

Someone gave me a bucket of ice plant. The main root was attached to a spreading mass but the root broke off. Can I just stick the green parts of the plant in the ground to grow or do I need to do something else. Right now, they are sitting in water. Thanks!

There are lots of species called 'iceplant'. Though I don't have a lot of experience with iceplants, I can say the one I'm familiar with grows rapidly from cuttings like you describe. My experience is with Delosperma; very easy to start from cuttings.

Try it; what have you got to lose? Just stick it in some fast-draining soil, keep it moist, and wait for it to put on new growth.
