Hellow Ninecrow. I remember you from years past, because I am also a points fancier. I am retired last month after 24 years in the business, but poinsettias were the first crop I grew in my own greenhouses and were my signature crop because I did the ultra-fancy varieties for the floral trade.

I think the two varieites I loved most of all were the Angelika white, bred by Gutbier (1983) and in the V-17 series and the Lilo Red (bred by Paul Ecke Jr. 1987). Those were in the days before the 'grower friendly' cultivars and one had a lot of dancing to do to keep the height down and the scheduling exact with lights to ensure meeting the sales windows and for good post-production condition. They've been supplanted for years by points like the Freedom line where the genetics take most of the work away.

If you haven't poked around at the Ecke/Fischer websites for new poinsettia breeding, I'd recommend it. Also you may find past University trials interesting. The photography is lovely and they have a lot of comments as to what is most popular and their cultivation and advantages/disadvantages.
