Take cuttings of firm new growth apply 0.3% IBA (rooting Hormone) stick in well drained soil & mist (bottom heat may help) taking 40-90 days to root

They do take a long time. Last year, while golfing, I noticed several suckers on trunks, and I ripped them off the trees, and put them in my water glass in the golf cart. They made it home, and I stripped most of the leaves off, except for one, dipped the ends in rooting hormone, and stuck in plain old garden dirt, but in damp soil and in the shade. I watched most of them die, but two hung in there, and after about 3 months, I walked by, and noticed two little leaves! OH JOY!! Then more leaves. I left them there, and now they have tons of leaves and have more than doubled their size. They have branches!! YeSSS!!

I got some from UC Davis, and I know some are dead, but a few are still green, and I know they might just surprise me one of these days. I mist when I can, but they are in with all the other UC Davis cuttings (figs, poms, and wine grapes), that root much faster, so they are outside now hardening off to get planted in containers. I'll probably bring the Olives back in to let them try to root in the house, when I separate those trays.

Just went out and took a pic. Planted as cuttings last Summer. They were stripped of all leaves except one, and that one cut in half. They lurked for a long time, and here they are today:

They can't stay where they are, but they are north facing mostly shade, but a little sun early morning and late evening. They will go into pots and on a drip system soon!!
