I have had a little more luck with the wet sand method....I have a florecent light above my sink in my kitchen and I put them there on a little shelf under it......

I've rooted salvia gregii using rooting hormone and a mix of peat/perlite. My cuttings are outdoors. The same worked for pineapple sage.

lsteacher - how long did it take for your salvia gregii to root? I tried cuttings with rooting hormone and perlite. After 3 weeks, and watching the cuttings slowly dry up, I assume they are not going to root.

Did you keep the cuttings in perlite/peat outdoors? Without a cover? I'm still struggling with the issue of how much humidity is needed. I think my first attempt to root lavender and salvia failed because of excess humidity. But I'm not sure. All the cuttings eventually died.

Shelly, I tried wet sand before and I got some rooting. I'm using half perlite, half vermiculite because I thought it would be better. I might revert back to sand.

lgteacher, I think I'm going to go back to rooting hormone.
