If I'm not mistaken, you would have to graft to another rootstock in order to propagate this tree.

I believe all 'weeping' trees need to be grafted...someone correct me if i'm mistaken

THey are grafted onto a tree stock grown from a cherry tree. You can see the graft scar up by the weeping part of the tree.

I'm confused on this subject.

So if I have a cherry tree (which I do, a volunteer growing in my back yard, about 5 feet tall and an inch or 2 thick) I can graft a weeping branch off of a weeping cherry tree onto my tree?

Am I right to assume that I would need to graft a new weeping branch onto my tree for each weeping branch that I would have ... or will that weeping branch sprout more weeping branches?

First go to the big box store & look at their weeping cherries.
The tree stock is 1-1 1/2 dia. & the grafts are little more then cutting size. Most I have seen have 4-6 limbs grafted on them.
