Transplant Shagbark Sapling?

Could anyone educate me upon the likeliness of being able to transplant a sapling of a Shagbark Hickory Tree. You see, in my woods the majority of trees are Shagbark. So I was wondering if it was possible for me to dig up a sapling, successfully. I'm planning to gift it (Not by mail) to my grandmother. By what means could I do that? Or would it be better to start one by seed? Any extra information of this tree would be appreciated as well. Thank You!
