Sure, that would work out just fine!

Yes it works. I do about 60 pussy willows a year, and about 300 golden willows per year just this way. Cut last year's growth in early spring (as soon as you can move dirt...) If there are leaves, strip them off, or cut at winters end and bury in snow on the north side of the house until you can move dirt.

I use #2 pots mostly, so I cut the stems 8" long. Top cut is half an inch above a bud, bottom cut is 1/2" below a bud. Fill your pots with dirt. (Can be pre-done in fall.) Push the stem segment until only 1 bud shows. Park in the shade until there is active growth, then move to sun.
